Poetry in motion – it looks like Joel is developing some new skate-dancing moves in the forest, but actually he’s just struggling to keep his footing on a bumpy path.
We visited part of the Athalassa Park that we haven’t been to before – St George’s park, more of a formal garden with a track around a pond – but the paths were great for the girls to cycle on. Not so good for skating, though.
There are feral cats around the lake in the main part of Athalassa Park, but nothing to match those at St George’s. They emerge from the undergrowth in large numbers at the sound of a crackling plastic bag.

[...] You’ll remember that when we first encountered the park, it was bone dry, after three years of drought in the Mediterranean island country. We found it an eery moonscape draped in ghostly tendrils of weed and floored with matted algae. It was only after unusually heavy rains broke the drought and filled the dam that it became clear how pretty – and how well-managed – the park actually is, and we spent a delightul New Year’s Day there. It wasn’t until some time later that we found the more garden-like St George’s park at the northern end of Athalassa, which is probably better-known to most casual visitors.
